Most Hollywood stars and Dutch celebrities use "hair-extensions" or hair additions. These are strands of fake hair that you add to the hair for various reasons. Reasons could be to add volume to the hair, lengthen the hair, create a different colour or look or simply just decorate the hair, for example.

Hair-extensions kiezen
Om een keuze te kunnen maken welke hair-extensions voor jou geschikt zijn, moeten je als eerst een aantal dingen op een rij zetten:
- Wat is jouw budget? Als je een indicatie hebt van hoeveel je uit wil geven aan hair-extensions dan is de keuze makkelijker of je beter voor synthetisch haar of natuurlijk haar kan kiezen.

- Hoe lang moeten de hair-extensions zijn? Je kan de extensions in de juiste lengte kopen of in model laten knippen.
- Wil je tijdelijke of permanente hairextensions? Extensions die je op dezelfde dag uit het haar haalt, zijn tijdelijke hair-extensions. Extensions die je voor een langere tijd in het haar toevoegt, zijn permanente hair-extensions.
- Welke methode? Er zijn verschillende methodes om hair-extensions in het haar toe te voegen. Dit is afhankelijk van welke extensions je kiest.
Methodes voor het toevoegen van Hairextensions
Invlechten
In this method, the hairdresser braids the hair-extensions into the hair piece by piece. She then makes lots of little braids. You can choose to braid in only a few centimetres or finish the braid as a whole .
Knopen
Hierbij knoopt de kapper kleine plukjes van het eigen haar en kleine plukjes hairextensions aan elkaar met elastische draad.
Weave
Bij deze methode vlecht de kapper het eigen haar dun in. Daarna maakt ze de hair-extensions met een speciale naald en draad aan de vlecht vast.
Clip-in
Deze hair-extensions bestaan uit strengen haar waar clipjes aan vastzitten. De kapper maakt eerst een scheiding in het haar en daarna maakt ze de hair-extensions met de clipjes vast.
Flip-in Hair
Flip-in is a wide mat attached to a thin transparent wire. The hairdresser places this over one's own hair like a hair band. You have to make sure the wire is at the front of the head. Then the hairdresser removes the own hair above it.
Keratine/ Wax

Microringen

Lace wig
Aan de naam zie je het al. De lace wig is een haarstuk dat gemaakt is op een gaasachtige stof, die lace heet. Voordat dat je dit haarstuk plaatst, moet je ervoor zorgen dat het eigen haar tegen de hoofdhuid aan zit door middel van bijvoorbeeld het haar in te vlechten. Daarna plaatst de kapper dit haarstuk over het eigen haar.
Lijmstrip
Deze methode voer je uit door dubbelzijdige tape op de haarmatten te plaatsen. Er zijn hair-extensions die deze plakstrip al hebben. Vervolgens neemt de kapper ongeveer 4 centimeter van het eigen haar en 8 centimeter van de hair-extensions. Op de helft van de hair-extensions, plakt de kapper het eigen haar er tegenaan. Tot slot vouwt de kapper de extensions dubbel en drukt ze dicht.
Paardenstaart

The way the hairdresser applies the extensions plays a big role in this. It is not for nothing that removing the extensions also comes with a price tag. This also requires some work.
LET OP!
To ensure the condition of your own hair, we do not recommend using extensions when your hair is weak and breaks easily. After chemotherapy, it is also not wise to use extensions. This is because hair remains weak for a long period after chemo treatment. Good care is also important if you take hair extensions. Do not wash your hair too often and let it dry properly after washing. Going to sleep with wet hair is not done! The same goes for fixing the hair immediately after washing. Be careful when using extensions for the first time, as the hair may feel heavier and sensitivity may occur. This can be a matter of getting used to and is often only in the first few days.
